Friday 9th November – walks **** – Levington Creek – Sunny and very cold.

Another very cold sunny day but stayed in bed today as we were off to Ipswich to visit the lovely Maeva our new Granddaughter in hospital. Got some great news early with an email from Holly at Felixstowe Town Council with a link to their Winter Magazine on which one of my pics was on the cover with a further 11 more used inside, really made my day:) With my exercises complete I made lunch, two roll and cuppa soup, we know how to live and headed over to park at Levington Church in perfect winter weather, sunny with beautiful blue sky’s but with the wind very light it did not feel cold as we sat on the bench with stunning views down to the River Orwell with the huge cranes at Felixstowe docks in the distance. A large area of brambles had been cleared near the bench but there was no sign of the deer in the field below as we had our picnic. We then walked down to the wooden broad walk through the reedbed and soon spotted a large number of deer in the field with the large tree plus loads of Lapwings and three grumpy looking Herons! You had to walk carefully as it was still icy in the shade, then on reaching the River Orwell we turned left to Levington Creek and with the tide right in it looked great with loads of birds too including swans, gull, redshanks, dunlins, teal and widgeon and we pretty much had it all to ourselves, just how we like it:)
It was then only a ten-minute drive to Ipswich hospital for our 4th visit to Maeva, with Dan our son back at work it was just Jay and the baby. Mag went in first and actually got to hold her while she was being feed, she is not taking milk through her mouth although she can suck like a good one but through a tube down her nose. She is progressing really well being born a full two months early and they hope to feed her by mouth next week:) It was then my turn, I didn’t get to hold her this time but was more than happy to chat to Jay and play with Maeva’s tiny toes, she is adorable :)
Then with our hour up to headed for home taking a quick detour to Levington Marina to catch the sunset.
